Student Loan Forgiveness

Programs that cancel some or all remaining federal student loan debt after meeting specific requirements.

Forgiveness programs include Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) for qualifying nonprofit or government employees after 120 qualifying payments, and forgiveness built into income-driven repayment plans after 20-25 years of payments. Eligibility rules and timelines are set by federal policy and can change, so borrowers should verify current requirements directly with their loan servicer or the Department of Education.
