Mid-Market Exchange Rate

The midpoint between the buy and sell prices of two currencies, without any markup or fee.

Also called the interbank rate, this is the rate at which banks trade currency with each other, and is generally the most favorable rate available. Retail currency services almost always charge a markup above this rate, so comparing an offered rate to the mid-market rate is a useful way to judge how much a service is charging in hidden fees.
