FICO Score

A three-digit credit score, ranging from 300 to 850, used by most U.S. lenders to assess creditworthiness.

Developed by the Fair Isaac Corporation, FICO scores are calculated from data in your credit report using five weighted factors: payment history (35%), amounts owed (30%), length of credit history (15%), new credit (10%), and credit mix (10%). Different lenders may use different FICO score versions depending on the type of credit being applied for.

Not to be confused with: VantageScore, a competing scoring model with a different (though similar) calculation method.
